Ingredients

  • 1 12 cups flour
  • 1 12 cups wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 14 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 14 cup oil
  • melted butter
  • coarse salt
  • sesame seeds
  • poppy seed (to garnish)

Method

  • Heat oven to 350F.
  • Mix flours, sugar, soda, salt.
  • Stir in buttermilk and oil.
  • Shape dough into 6 balls.
  • Roll each ball into a 9 inch square on a lightly floured cloth covered board.
  • Cut into squares or rough strips depending on the shape you want.
  • Brush with butter and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Sprinkle with course salt and sesame or poppy seeds.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes or until crisp and golden.
