Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 to 1 1/2 c. cherries, drained
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. boiling water

Method

  • Mix sugar, butter, milk, baking powder, salt and flour.
  • Put in greased 8-inch casserole.
  • Put cherries on top of batter; dot with margarine and add 1 cup sugar.
  • Pour boiling water over all.
  • Bake at 350° for about 35 minutes.
  • Cherries will to to bottom and form a sauce.
  • (I usually double this and put in 9 x 13 pan.)
  • Serve with ice cream.
