Ingredients
- 3 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- pinch salt
- 3 c. whipping cream
- 1 c. white Karo syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. pecans
Method
- Butter sides and bottom of heavy saucepan with butter.
- Add sugar and 1 cup cream.
- Cook while stirring till soft ball stage (forms a ball when dripped in cup of cold water).
- Slowly add second cup of cream as mixture boils and you stir.
- Cook to soft ball stage again.
- Slowly add the third cup of cream as you cook and stir.
- Cook to soft ball stage again.
- Add vanilla and nuts. Stir until it begins to thicken.
- Pour in a buttered pan.
- Cool and cut into squares.
