Ingredients
- 6 eggs separated
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 cup crisco
- 3 cups sugar
- 3 cups cake flour
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cans flake coconut
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
Method
- Separate eggs.
- Put whites in large bowl until room temperature (1 hour).
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
- Grease 10 inch tube pan.
- Beat at high speed, yolks with crisco and margarine.
- Gradually add sugar, beat until light and fluffy.
- At low speed beat in flour alternately with milk, ending with flour; add coconut.
- Beat until well blended.
- Beat egg whites just until stiff peaks form.
- Fold into batter until well blended.
- Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pan 15 minutes.
