Ingredients
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2/3 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Place cocoa, sugar, cream of tartar and milk in saucepan; mix well.
- Place over heat and cook, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves.
- Cover and cook 2 minutes longer.
- Uncover and cook until mixture forms a soft ball when dropped from spoon into cold water.
- Remove from heat.
- Add butter, but do not stir.
- Cool to lukewarm.
- Add vanilla and beat until creamy or until shine disappears.
- Pour onto greased pan.
- Cut when cool and serve.
