Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. Crisco shortening (not oil)
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 1/4 c. sweet milk

Method

  • Cream margarine, shortening and sugar.
  • Add salt, baking powder and cocoa; mix until well blended.
  • Add flour and milk alternately.
  • Batter will be stiff.
  • Break eggs in separate bowl and whip good, then add to cake batter and mix good.
  • Add vanilla and beat again.
  • Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Bake in tube pan that has been greased and floured.
