Ingredients
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 1/2 c. soft butter
- 3/4 c. water
- 1 bag caramels
- 2 c. chocolate chips
- pecans (optional)
Method
- Mix cake mix, eggs, 1/2 cup milk, butter and water.
- Pour 1/2 of batter into a greased 9 x 12-inch pan.
- Bake 8 minutes in 350° oven.
- While the cake is cooking, melt caramels with 1/4 to 1/2 cup evaporated milk.
- Pour over partially cooked cake.
- Add chocolate chips and pecans.
- Pour rest of cake mix over filling.
- Bake additional 16 to 18 minutes or until done.
- Cool and cut into squares.
