Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 3 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 (9-inch) pastry shell (unbaked)

Method

  • In top of double boiler, over boiling water, heat butter and chocolate, stirring until melted and well blended.
  • Allow to cool slightly.
  • Blend syrup, sugar, salt and vanilla into beaten eggs. Add chocolate mixture; blend well.
  • Pour mixture into pie shell. Bake at 325° for 45 minutes, or until pie is almost but not quite firm when shaken.
