Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Combine flour, sugar and salt in a bowl.
  • Place margarine, water, shortening and cocoa in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  • Pour over flour mixture.
  • In another bowl, beat eggs; add buttermilk, soda and vanilla.
  • Stir well and add to other mixture.
  • Bake in greased and floured oblong pan for 40 minutes at 350°.
