Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. unbleached or all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 c. peanut butter
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  • Generously grease bottom only of 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  • In large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, peanut butter and butter or margarine.
  • Reserve 1 cup.
  • Add baking powder, soda, milk, vanilla and eggs to remaining crumb mixture.
  • Blend at low speed until moistened, beat 3 minutes at medium speed.
  • Pour batter into pan. Sprinkle with 1 cup reserved crumbs.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over crumbs.
  • Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
