Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 1/4 c. flour (Softasilk)
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. Wesson oil
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, grated

Method

  • Oil and flour 2 round cake pans. Beat egg whites until fluffy. Beat in 1/2 cup sugar until stiff.
  • Set aside.
  • Sift together sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Add oil, 1/2 cup milk and vanilla. Beat at medium speed. Add remaining milk and egg yolks. Beat 1 minute. Fold in chocolate, egg whites and sugar.
  • Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350°.
