Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 c. (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  • In a small saucepan, melt shortening and add sugar.
  • Cool. Place in a mixing bowl.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • Combine dry ingredients.
  • Add to batter (batter will be stiff).
  • Turn into greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over top.
  • Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • Yields 3 dozen.
