Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground round beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves chopped garlic
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (16 oz.) can red kidney beans
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. oregano (optional)
  • seasoned salt to taste

Method

  • Brown the beef in a large frypan.
  • Drain.
  • Add onion and garlic and cook until tender.
  • Stir in chili powder and seasonings.
  • Add tomatoes with juice and tomato sauce.
  • Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes.
  • Rinse the beans and add to the chili. Cook 10 minutes more.
  • Serves 4.
