Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (14 oz.) can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 (14 oz.) can chili seasoned beans
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce (no salt added)
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 (14 oz.) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • red and black pepper to taste

Method

  • On medium-high heat, brown meat in large pot.
  • Drain and rinse to remove fat.
  • Meanwhile, chop onion.
  • Add onion to meat and stir under onions until tender.
  • Add remaining ingredients to pot and let the chili come to a boil.
  • Turn down heat.
  • Cover and let the chili simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Can also be frozen and reheated.
  • Makes 8 (1-cup) servings.
