Ingredients

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c. catsup
  • 1 c. shredded American or Swiss cheese
  • 3/4 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped green pepper
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dried thyme (optional)
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 lb. ground beef

Method

  • Combine egg and catsup.
  • Stir in cheese, bread crumbs, onions, green pepper, salt, thyme and pepper.
  • Add ground beef; mix well. In an 11 x 7 1/2 x 2-inch baking dish, shape meat mixture into a 6-inch round loaf.
  • Bake in a 350° oven for about 1 hour, or until done.
  • Makes 4 to 6 servings.
