Ingredients
- 4 c. elbow macaroni
- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. finely chopped onions
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 17 oz. evaporated milk
- 1 c. American cheese, grated (4 oz.)
- 1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated (4 oz.)
- 1 c. sliced hot dogs (3 to 4)
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. bread crumbs
Method
- Cook macaroni; drain (2 cups uncooked).
- Saute onions in butter.
- Stir in flour and salt; blend in evaporated milk.
- Cook and stir over medium heat until thick and bubbly.
- Add cheeses; stir until melted.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in macaroni and hot dog slices.
- Place Cheesy Macaroni and Hot Dogs in a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
- Sprinkle with bread crumbs.
- Bake at 350° for 40 minutes, or until heated through.
- Makes 5 to 6 servings.
