Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. crushed graham crackers
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. softened margarine
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 2 (8 oz.) cream cheese
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 egg whites
- 8 oz. Cool Whip
- 1 can pie filling
Method
- Combine graham crackers, margarine, 1/2 cup sugar and 3/4 cup nuts.
- Press into a 13 x 9-inch pan.
- Beat egg whites until very stiff and set aside.
- Cream the 1 cup sugar, cream cheese and vanilla.
- Fold egg whites into creamed mixture. Do not beat.
- Pour on top of crust and bake at 350° for 23 minutes.
- Cool on counter, then refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours until cold. Spread pie filling on top.
- Ice with Cool Whip. Sprinkle remaining nuts on top. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Serves 12.
