Ingredients

  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. dry milk
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded sharp cheese
  • 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 c. flour

Method

  • Stir together water, dry milk, sugar, salt and yeast.
  • Let stand to dissolve, about 1 minute.
  • Add cheese and 1 cup flour. Beat until blended.
  • Add 2 cups flour and blend.
  • Add 1 cup flour and blend.
  • Knead 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Let stand 10 minutes.
  • Knead until smooth; add flour as necessary.
  • Place in bowl and cover. Let stand.
  • Punch down after bread doubles in size.
  • Knead and form into loaves.
  • Put into loaf pans and cover; let rise.
  • Bake 45 minutes at 375°.
