Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 3 c. granulated sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 (8 oz.) carton sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Alternately add flour mixture and sour cream to butter mixture. Add vanilla. Grease and lightly flour 6 (9-inch) pans. Pour in batter and bake 25 to 35 minutes or until done. Remove from oven and cool on racks for 10 minutes. Cool cake completely before frosting.
