Ingredients
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 1/3 c. vegetable shortening
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
Method
- Heat oven to 450°.
- In large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt (if desired).
- Using a fork, mix well.
- Using pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add buttermilk.
- Using fork mix just until mixture forms soft dough and leaves sides of bowl (it may be a bit sticky).
