Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 c. milk
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1 Tbsp. margarine
Method
- Blend in saucepan the first 4 ingredients.
- Set aside.
- In a small skillet, melt 1/4 cup sugar; cook and stir until a dark golden brown (use small amount of hot water to liquify).
- Add the burnt caramel and milk to saucepan.
- Mix until smooth.
- Cook slowly until thickened.
- Add last 3 ingredients; add slightly beaten egg yolks first and stir for a minute, then last 2 minutes. Whip whites into meringue.
- Top with meringue.
