Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 c. celery
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 c. tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • dash of Texas Pete
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch or plain flour
  • 1 lb. shrimp, cleaned and deveined

Method

  • Cook onions, green peppers, celery and garlic in hot oil until tender.
  • Add tomatoes, paste and seasonings; simmer 45 minutes. Mix cornstarch with 2 teaspoons cold water; stir into sauce.
  • Add shrimp and simmer 10 minutes more.
  • Spoon over cooked rice. Yield: 8 servings.
