Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg

Method

  • Put 1 1/2 c. flour and yeast in blender container.
  • Switch on and off to mix.
  • Heat lowfat milk, shortening, sugar, and salt till shortening melts.
  • Add in to dry mix.
  • Blend on low a few seconds.
  • Add in egg.
  • Blend on low till combined.
  • Blend on high till smooth.
  • 4 to 5 seconds.
  • Pour into bowl.
  • Add in rest of flour to make stiff dough.
  • Cover.
  • Let rise till double, about 45 min.
  • Punch down.
  • Turn onto floured surface.
  • Let rest 10 min.
  • Shape loaf.
  • Put into greased 9 x 5 x 3 pan.
  • Cover, let rise till double.
  • Bake 375 degrees for 40 to 45 min.
