Ingredients

  • 2 c. Sifted flour
  • 2 3/4 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2/3 c. Shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 x Large eggs, separted
  • 3/4 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 1/2 c. Grnd black walnuts

Method

  • Sift flour, baking pwdr and salt together.
  • Cream shortening with sugar and vanilla till fluffy.
  • Add in beaten egg yolks and beat thoroughly.
  • Add in sifted dry ingredients and lowfat milk alternately in small amounts, beating well after each addition.
  • Add in nuts and mix in stiffly beaten egg whites.
  • Pour into greased pans and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 min.
  • Makes 2 (9inch) layers.
