Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. cubed beef
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- dash of pepper
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 c. water
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 3 Tbsp. Heinz 57 sauce
- 2 onions, quartered
- 2 large potatoes, diced
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 1/2 c. celery, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. plain flour
- 3 Tbsp. water
Method
- Brown meat with salt, sugar and pepper in shortening.
- Add 2 cups water, beef bouillon cubes and cover.
- Simmer 1 hour or until meat is tender.
- Stir in Heinz 57 sauce and vegetables.
- Cover and simmer an additional hour or until vegetables are tender.
- Thicken with the flour and water.
