Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped parsley
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • None None Vegetable oil for deep-frying
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled, cut into French fries
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 4 None bread rolls, halved and toasted
  • None None Ketchup, lettuce leaves, tomato slices, to serve

Method

  • Combine the ground beef, onion, parsley, egg and garlic in a large bowl. Season to taste. Shape the mixture into 4 evenly-sized flattened patties. Place on a tray. Cover and refrigerate for 15 mins until firm.
  • Meanwhile, heat the vegetable oil in a large saucepan on medium heat until a cube of bread dropped in sizzles immediately. Deep-fry the potatoes, in batches, until just tender. Drain on paper towels. Cool slightly.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Cook the patties for 3-5 mins each side until cooked through. Top each with a piece of cheese. Set aside and cover to keep warm. Cook the bacon in the same pan on high for 2-3 mins each side until crisp.
  • Layer the ketchup, lettuce, tomato, burger and bacon in each roll.
  • Deep-fry the French fries again. Drain on paper towels. Season to taste. Serve with burgers.
