Ingredients

  • 1 "baked" butt portion of ham
  • Ham broth from boiled ham & trimmings
  • 4 c. flour
  • 4 tbsp. shortening, level
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon salt (if ham broth isn't salty)
  • Approx. 1 1/2 c. water (cool)
  • 1 can great northern beans

Method

  • Cut off good slices of baked ham and lay aside.
  • Add in water to bone and any desirable pcs for broth.
  • Mix next 5 ingredients together as you would pie dough, adding water all at once.
  • Let dough rest for 10 or possibly more min.
  • Roll out, a little at a time (divide into 4 parts).
  • Cut into squares and drop into boiling broth.
  • Stir and simmer 20 to 30 min.
  • Add in beans last 15 min with some ham pcs.
