Ingredients
- 6 large tart apples
- 2 Tbsp. rum or bourbon
- 1/2 lemon, sliced very thin
- 3/4 c. sugar
- nutmeg
- 1 1/2 c. water
Method
- Wash and core apples.
- Place in baking dish.
- Put 1 tablespoon sugar in each.
- Fill centers with mincemeat to which rum or bourbon has been added.
- Sprinkle with nutmeg; add remaining sugar and water.
- Add lemon and bake 1 hour at 400° until tender.
- Serve as a side dish or top with sweetened bourbon-flavored whipped cream and use as dessert.
