Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1-1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. onion, chopped
  • 1 c. celery, finely chopped
  • 1 c. green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes with liquid
  • 1-1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 1/2 c. beef broth

Method

  • In a 2-1/2 quart pan brown ground beef with salt.
  • Add onion, celery and pepper.
  • Cook about 2 to 3 minutes over medium heat. Add tomatoes with liquid and seasonings.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Add beans and broth.
  • Simmer 20 minutes. Yield:
  • 6 servings / 4-1/2 cups.
