Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 c. butter
- 6 apples, pared and cored and cut in fourths
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. milk
Method
- Make a syrup of the sugar, water and cinnamon. Add the butter.
- Sift the flour, salt and baking powder together.
- Cut in the shortening.
- Add the milk; stir until moistened.
- Roll dough 1/4-inch
- thick;
- cut
- into
- 5-inch squares.
- Arrange 4 pieces
- of apple
- on each piece of dough; sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Dot with butter.
- Fold corners to center; pinch edges
- together. Place,
- inch
- apart,
- on a greased baking dish. Pour
- over the
- mixture
- of sugar, water, cinnamon and butter (which
- has been brought to a boil).
- Bake at 375° for 35 minutes, or until apples are done.
