Ingredients

  • 1 c. hot water
  • 2/3 c. red hots
  • 1pkg. lemon jello (3 oz.)
  • 1 1/2 c. sweetened applesauce
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
  • 1/2 c. celery, chopped
  • 1/2 c. mayonnaise

Method

  • Pour hot water over red hots; stir until dissolved.
  • Add jello and stir.
  • Stir in applesauce and pour 1/2 the mixture in an 8-inch square dish.
  • Chill until firm.
  • Have cheese at room temperature and blend in nuts, celery and mayonnaise and spread over the firm applesauce mixture.
  • Pour remaining apple mix over this and chill until firm.
