Ingredients
- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 6 tsp. sugar
- 1 c. less 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/3 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Method
- Sift flour and sugar together.
- Cut in shortening.
- Add yeast and buttermilk.
- Stir all together and grease batter with Wesson oil (I grease bowls).
- Cover and store in refrigerator until ready to use.
- Knead on floured board and shape.
- Let rise 1 hour and bake 15 minutes at 400°.
