Ingredients
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. warm buttermilk
Method
- Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside.
- Mix flour, soda and sugar; cut in shortening.
- Add buttermilk and yeast and mix together.
- Let rise 10 to 15 minutes.
- Roll out and bake until done.
- Cook at 400° until brown.
- This dough keeps for several weeks.
