Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour, all-purpose
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1/4 cup poppy seed
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Method

  • Blend all ingredients until well blended.
  • Pour into greased tins.
  • Bake at 350F (180C) for 1 hour.
  • Makes 2 large, 3 medium or 4 small loaves.
  • Heat all glaze ingredients until sugar melts.
  • Brush on cooled breads with a pastry brush.
  • Allow glaze to harden before wrapping.
