Ingredients
- 2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 slightly beaten egg
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1 tsp. almond extract *
Method
- Stir together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.
- Cut in shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal.
- Combine beaten egg, milk and almond extract.
- Add to flour mixture.
- Mix well.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
- Place 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake in 325° oven for 16 to 18 minutes.
- May place one almond half on each cookie before baking.
- Makes 48.
