Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package rapid rise yeast
  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Method

  • Mix well all the above, except oil for frying, with half of the flour.
  • Mix well again, knead lightly.
  • Put in large bowl and cover with damp cloth.
  • Let rise in warm room or slightly warm oven about 2 hours.
  • Roll out in small pieces on lightly floured board.
  • Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  • Serve with beans or chili, or good covered with honey.
  • Makes about 2 dozen.
