Ingredients
- 2 cups Flour
- 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/8 teaspoons Salt
- 1/2 cups Shortening
- 3/4 cups Water
Method
- **Note: For those who wish a truly dense cake, increase the shortening by 1/8 cup and only add water until the dough is between cookie and muffin-type density.
- Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit.
- In mixing bowl, combine flour, sugars, baking powder and salt. Mix until ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Add shortening and cut in until mixture is crumbly. Stir in water gradually until dough is thinner than cookie dough, but thicker than cake batter - about like muffin batter or just a bit thicker. (This may use more or less water depending on altitude, weather, etc., of course.)
- Spread mixture into greased 9-inch round cake pan. Sprinkle top with cinnamon sugar.
- Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until pick inserted in center comes out clean.
