Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. water
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- dash of lite salt
- 2 unbeaten egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Combine sugar, water, cream of tartar and salt in a saucepan. Bring to boiling, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Very slowly add sugar syrup to the egg whites in a bowl.
- Beat constantly with a hand mixer until stiff peaks form, about 7 minutes.
- Yields frosting for 2 (8 or 9-inch) layers or one 10-inch tube cake.
