Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. salted butter
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 3 tsp. coffee liqueur
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  • Lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch glass baking dish.
  • In a heavy 2-quart saucepan, heat butter, sugar and water over medium temperature, stirring with a wooden spoon, until sugar dissolves. Cover pan with lid for 2 minutes to wash down any sugar crystals. Uncover pan; increase heat to high.
  • Without stirring, continue cooking until golden brown.
  • Remove from heat; stir in liqueur and baking soda.
  • Pour immediately into baking dish; spread thin with wooden spoon and let cool.
