Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 stick margarine
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 eggs
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 c. plain flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Cream shortening, margarine and sugar, beating well.
- Combine sifted flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
- Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
- Add vanilla; beat well.
- Add eggs last.
- Beat well and pour batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350°.
- Frost with Burnt Caramel Icing.
