Ingredients

  • 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2/3 c. canned evaporated milk
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. butternut flavoring

Method

  • Cream salt, sugar, shortening and margarine.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well.
  • Add flour, milk and water a little at a time.
  • Mix well, then mix in flavoring.
  • Pour in greased and floured tube cake pan.
  • Place cake in cold oven.
  • Turn oven temperature to 325° and bake cake for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Do not open door until done!
