Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread, crusts removed
  • 1 c. grated sharp cheese
  • 1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 c. grated Swiss cheese
  • 1 1/2 c. regular milk
  • 4 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1 lb. ham or sausage
  • 1 tsp. prepared mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • nutmeg to taste
  • Worcestershire to taste
  • 1 small can mushrooms (optional)

Method

  • Arrange bread in 9 x 13-inch greased pan.
  • Layer cooked sausage (fried) or ham and mushrooms over bread.
  • Add layer of cheeses.
  • Combine eggs and seasonings, mixing thoroughly.
  • Pour over layered ingredients.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
