Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. sugar, divided
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (8 oz.) container plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp. grated lemon peel
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts, divided
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Method

  • Cream butter with 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, until blended.
  • Stir in yogurt, lemon peel and vanilla.
  • Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together.
  • Add to creamed mixture, stirring until smooth.
  • Add 3/4 cup walnuts.
  • Turn half of the batter into a greased, floured 9-inch tube pan.
