Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. butter flavored Crisco
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 2 1/2 c. Quaker oats (Quick or old fashioned)
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 c. chopped nuts
  • 2/3 c. fruit preserves

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Beat Crisco and sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in egg and vanilla.
  • Add combined oats, flour and salt; mix well. Form 1-inch balls; roll in nuts.
  • Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet; press centers with thumb or paw.
  • Fill with preserves.
  • Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire rack.
  • Cool completely.
