Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
  • 1 1/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded coconut
  • 1 c. chopped walnut meats

Method

  • With a pastry blender or two knives, cut the butter or margarine into 1 cup of the flour and 1/4 cup of the brown sugar, until mixture is the consistency of coarse cornmeal, as in pie crust.
  • Pat this mixture firmly into an ungreased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan and bake in moderate oven, 350°, for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
