Ingredients

  • 1 c. shredded extra sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 4 Tbsp. butter/margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
  • pinch of cayenne pepper

Method

  • In mixing bowl, combine butter and cheese with a fork, then blend in flour and pepper by hand.
  • Roll mixture into 1-inch balls.
  • Place on buttered 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch baking pan and flatten with heel of your hand until balls are about 1/4-inch thick.
  • Bake in preheated 350° oven uncovered for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  • Cool on rack.
  • Makes 12 wafers.
