Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 3/4 c. nuts (ground)

Method

  • Combine shortening, sugar and salt.
  • Pour milk over and let stand until lukewarm.
  • Have yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.
  • Mix with other mixture.
  • Blend in 1 1/2 cups flour and beat until smooth.
  • Cover and let set 15 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
  • Mix rest of flour and let rise in warm place until double in bulk.
  • Dip out rounded spoonfuls and roll into mixture of nuts, sugar and cinnamon.
  • Stretch into long twisted pieces and place on greased cookie sheet.
  • Let rise 15 minutes.
  • Bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes.
