Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. milk
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 3/4 c. nuts (ground)
Method
- Combine shortening, sugar and salt.
- Pour milk over and let stand until lukewarm.
- Have yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.
- Mix with other mixture.
- Blend in 1 1/2 cups flour and beat until smooth.
- Cover and let set 15 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Mix rest of flour and let rise in warm place until double in bulk.
- Dip out rounded spoonfuls and roll into mixture of nuts, sugar and cinnamon.
- Stretch into long twisted pieces and place on greased cookie sheet.
- Let rise 15 minutes.
- Bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes.
