Ingredients

  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • dash of salt
  • 1/4 lb. oleo
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. ice water
  • 1/4 lb. oleo
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. softened oleo
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • milk
  • chopped nuts

Method

  • Mix first 4 ingredients like pie crust.
  • Divide and roll into 2 long strips on cookie sheet.
  • Pat to 1/4-inch thick.
  • Bring to boil 1/4 pound oleo and 1 cup water; add 1 cup flour.
  • Remove from stove.
  • While hot, add eggs, 1 at a time.
  • Stir well after each addition.
  • Add almond flavoring.
  • Spread over pastry to 1/4-inch from edge.
  • Bake in a 425° oven for 30 minutes.
  • Cool.
