Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 large egg
- 2 c. flour, sifted
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- In a bowl, cream together butter, shortening, sugars, vanilla and egg until fluffy.
- In separate bowl, sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
- Add flour mixture to creamed mixture.
- Mix to moderately stiff dough. Using about a tablespoon of dough for each cookie, roll dough into small balls.
- Dip in granulated sugar.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Do not flatten!
