Ingredients
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1 medium onion, minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3 c. coarse dry bread crumbs
- 1/2 c. minced celery
- 1/2 c. minced raw carrot
- 1 Tbsp. minced parsley
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 1/2 tsp. sage
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
Method
- Spread on 1 1/2 pounds beef round steak.
- (First, bone steak and pound flour into both sides; brush off excess flour.)
- Roll up and tie securely.
- Brown on all sides in a little hot fat in large heavy utensil.
- Add 1/2 cup hot water.
- Cover; cook 1 1/2 hours in 350° oven.
- Uncover and cook 1/2 hour longer.
- Add thickening to juices in utensil for gravy.
